Realization
"Reach your own personal 8,000er" - was the slogan issued by the Vorarlberg summer cable cars and the Vorarlberg Initiative - in a bid to get mountaineers and hikers moving and motivated. The newly developed Vorarlberg hiking pass made it possible for all participants to run checks on their own personal altitude targets online, at any time.
Thirty-one cable cars across the state took part in the scheme, as well as the inatura Dornbirn.

In place of the old stamped tickets, hiking enthusiasts were presented with a personalized ID card with barcode, dubbed the "8,000er".
A special challenge in the realization of this project was the technical equipment of the 31 participating summer mountain lifts and cable cars. A simple and flexible solution had to be found for clocking metres at different altitudes via the summit stations. The Google G2 HTC Magic mobile, which has been on the market since the end of May 2009, offered a suitable solution for this purpose. In close cooperation with Mobilkom A1, n-tree was able to integrate a mobile sales and control system in the DestiCard-System.

The members of staff at the summit station scanned the "8,000er" bar code with the mobile cameras. The hiker's data and the altitude were automatically transferred to the n-tree server. Back home, hikers could retrieve the status of their personal altitude metres at www.sommerbergbahnen.at. In addition there was an online ranking of the top 50 mountaineers. At the end of the promotion - 26 October 2009 - the winners from all of the registered participants were announced.
