Strandbad Bregenz uses new mobile technology from n-tree

The Strandbad Bregenz puts its faith in technical innovation: This summer, mobile phones are to be used as additional control points for season tickets. The technology required for this development is being supplied by n-tree solutions. The Google mobile phone is to be integrated by n-tree into existing ticketing and entry systems as a mobile control station.

The Strandbad Bregenz sells some 2,000 season tickets at the start of the swimming season. But as Alexander Fritz from the Bregenz municipal utility authorities says, "it's difficult for us to then check who's using the tickets thereafter." The Strandbad Bregenz has two un-staffed entrances, while there are no automated access controls at all in place at the Bregenz Militärbad. "This of course facilitates the unauthorized sharing of season tickets," says Fritz. Authorities have therefore decided to create additional control possibilities with mobile technology to enhance access checking. And in the process, the municipal utility authorities are committed to an innovative development of solutions provided by the company n-tree.

This is how the mobile phone functions as a mobile control station: the bar code on the season ticket is scanned in with the mobile phone camera. Via an internet connection to the Strandbad server, the registered customer data and a photograph of the ticket holder are called up to ensure that they tally with the data being checked at the time.

"The mobile phone facilitates an uncomplicated and rapid check in all locations where a permanently installed solution is not economically viable or possible," says n-tree Managing Director Thomas Handler. In addition, a variety of other applications can be realized with minimum expenditure. "For example, the mobile phone can also be used as a mobile cash till," says Handler. This solution has already been successfully in use for about a year now, as part of the visitor ticketing system "DestiCard", by the Vorarlberg tourist office V-Card.
