Klimt Centre Attersee

Gustav Klimt Centre Attersee

In the immediate vicinity of Kammer Castle - one of the favourite Attersee motifs of Gustav Klimt - a modern multifunctional building has been built that incorporates the Gustav Klimt Centre, the Klimt Café and Klimt Shop. The opening took place to mark Gustav Klimt's 150th birthday on 14 July 2012.

The Klimt Centre has been funded by a private investor, the Department of Trade and Industry (BMWFJ), the local government of Upper Austria, as well as by private sponsors. The operator of the centre is the "Klimt at Attersee" Association, which works in cooperation with the Leopold Museum in Vienna.

"The Klimt Centre is not a museum but rather a centre of documentation, " explains Peter Weinhäupl, Managing Director of the Leopold Museum. Efforts are focussed on the close relationship of the painter to the lake at Attersee. Klimt (1862 - 1918) regularly spent his summer months between 1900 and 1916 in the Attersee region. It became a second home. It was there that the majority of his 50 landscape paintings originated. Thus the location for the building is directly next to the famous Schloss-Allee, which Klimt really did paint.

The visitor management system for the Klimt Centre in Schöfling was also provided by n-tree solutions. Following in the footsteps of the Attersee Swimming Pool Association, the Klimt Centre has now chosen to invest in the long-term know-how of n-tree solutions. A cash and electronic access control point with turnstiles and card readers have been installed for the optimal management of visitors.
