s'Kärtle - Customer Card Constance

The first step towards providing a Constance city card is the new customer card "s'Kärtle" for ferries and swimming pools. Ferry passengers and spa users can preload this customer card with any amount of cash. The preloaded cash is converted into an equivalent number of points, which can be used for cashless payments on the ferries and at the various baths in Constance. The amount of discount depends on the number of points on the card.

The customer card can be used in the "Bodensee-Therme", the "Schwaketenbad" and the "Rheinstrandbad" as well as for the ferries. 70 mobile payment terminals used by the Constance ferry operators were integrated into the network for this purpose.

The customer can save money with the "s'Kärtle". With a preload payment of 25 Euros onto his customer card, the ferry passenger receives a 4 percent discount on the ticket price. If the customer places a one-off amount of 500 euro on his customer card, the price reduction is 45 percent.

The customer pays contactlessly with the "s'Kärtle". He does not need to carry cash. The cash desk staff simply deducts the required amount from the customer card. For checking purposes the customer receives a receipt which shows him the remaining points on the card and the amount deducted. The card can be preloaded with more money at any time if necessary. The discount rate for the total point credit always relates to the last increment of points placed on to the card. The "s'Kärtle" is also flexible, as it is transferable.

Guests using the Constance swimming pools can receive up to 20 percent discount with their customer card. A 100 Euro-customer card secures a 10 percent discount. With a 250 Euro-customer card the baths user saves around 37 Euros, with a 500 Euro-customer card the saving is 100 Euros.

"Many of our guests also travel regularly on the car ferry. Therefore we decided to introduce a joint customer card," says Dr. Georg Geiger, Managing Director of Bädergesellschaft Konstanz mbH. Approximately 5,000 "s'Kärtle" customer cards were sold up to April 2008.
