EURO 2008. Public Viewing Bregenz

EURO 2008 - Fan Curve & ZDFarena at the Lake Constance

From the 7th of June until the 29th of June 2008 the Bregenz Festival floating stage turned into an unique location for public viewing: 31 matches, public viewing for 5,000 spectators in the ZDFarena, a colourful programm for young and old.

In Bregenz, exact in the border triangle Austria-
Germany-Switzerland, the world's largest floating stage formed the spectactular backdrop for two giant screens, that were fitted into the stage scenery of the opera "Tosca". All 31 matches were broadcasted live, in Dolby Surround, for some 5,000 spectators, in a dazzling natural scenery. A entertainement programm for the whole family made it a perfect event!

What is the ZDFarena? Johannes B. Kerner, Jürgen Klopp and Urs Meier broadcasted directly from Bregenz lakeside stage on all match days covered by the German Broadcasting Corporation ZDF. About 200.000 visitors came to see the matches at this extraordinary public viewing.

Realization
The advance booking of the arena tickets is transacted via the internet booking portal v-ticket.at. First-time print-at-home tickets will be used. The online bought tickets, will be directly transmitted as a PDF file to the computer of the customer, who can print them easily. Therefore no shipping costs arise. The barcode on the ticket is used for the legitimation. At the entrance to the public viewing, the arena tickets will be checked by mobile control terminals.

Ticket price include arrival by public transport from all over Vorarlberg and on the Lindau-St. Margrethen route, as well as up-and-down ride on the Pfänderbahn cable-car, discounts on select cruises operated by the Lake Constance Shipping, and a discount of € 5 on the purchase of every "Tosca" ticket. This so-called "services packages" and their accounting are managed by the DestiCard system.

Through this technological cooperation it was possible to couple a ticket for a seat at one event with use of a leisure venue. This was a new, trend-setting step that now makes it possible to use modern technology to link culture and leisure - two spheres that have up to now been kept separate in the ticketing sector.
